The New England Patriots shocked the NFL in 2025 with their sudden rise to the top of the league. While much of that success is due to the players, it’s clear that head coach Mike Vrabel‘s work with the team was also quite important. While the Pats have experienced some turnover with their coaching staff early this offseason, for the most part, Vrabel is running things back with virtually the same staff.

Several former Patriots coaches have been on the move over the past few weeks, and another name joined that list on Friday afternoon. After Rich Bisaccia surprisingly stepped down from his post as the Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator earlier this month, the team appears to have landed on New England’s former special teams coordinator, Cam Achord, to replace him on head coach Matt LaFleur’s staff.

“The Packers plan to hire Cam Achord as their special teams coordinator, per sources,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported in a post on X. “Achord, 39, won Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots and most recently was the Giants’ assistant special teams coach. Now, he replaces Rich Bisaccia in Green Bay.”

Achord initially joined the Pats back in 2018 as an assistant special teams coach. After two seasons in that role, he got promoted to special teams coordinator, which is a job he would hold for the final four years of Bill Belichick’s stint as the team’s head coach. After Jerod Mayo came to town, Achord bolted for the New York Giants, as he’s spent the past two campaigns with them as an assistant special teams coach.

Now, Achord will get another shot at being a special teams coordinator, and he will be joining a coaching staff led by LaFleur that has undergone its fair share of changes this offseason. So while New England hasn’t had much turnover on its coaching staff, it will be worth keeping tabs on some old friends in 2026 to see how they perform in their new roles.
