Red Sox's Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela Collide In Outfield; Give Fans Injury Scare

The Boston Red Sox are getting ready for the season, and Ceddanne Rafaela and Roman Anthony collided in the outfield during a spring training game on Friday.

The two star outfielders collided on a fly ball hit by Jurickson Profar in the first inning of the Red Sox game against the Atlanta Braves. Losing either player would be a major blow to the Red Sox, and it was certainly a scare to Red Sox fans.

Both players eventually got up, with Rafaela getting up first. Anthony was reportedly getting his left arm looked at, but both players stayed in the game. Both Anthony and Rafaela remaining in the game is great news for the Red Sox, and likely an indication that they are fine.

With the World Baseball Classic coming up, and the fact that it’s just spring training, the Red Sox likely would have pulled them if they felt there was any risk in keeping them in the game. They were hitting in the top two spots of the lineup on Friday as well.

Anthony singled in his next at-bat, which came in the top of the third inning. Rafaela homered to center field three pitches later to score both himself and Anthony. It’s safe to say that both players are feeling fine after their scary collision in the outfield.

Rafaela was tied for the fourth most home runs on the team last season. Anthony hit eight home runs in his 71 games. Both figure to be a huge source of power in the Red Sox’s lineup this season. Both will be playing in the World Baseball Classic and will hope to come into the season hot.
