The New England Patriots need to find a way to upgrade their wide receiving core this offseason, and one potential strategy could be to focus on the 2026 NFL Draft.

New England currently has the No. 31 pick in the first round, which could be a prime opportunity for the Patriots to snag a falling receiver, and Patrick Finley from the Chicago Sun-Times has a player in mind.

Finley published a mock draft on Friday, where he predicted the Patriots selecting Notre Dame’s standout wide receiver, Malachi Fields, at No. 31.

“The Patriots will prioritize finding Drake Maye better receiving options,” Finley wrote.

Fields stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 218 pounds, making him a potential red zone target for Maye to throw to.

Another great thing about if the Patriots draft Fields is that he brings a wealth of experience. He spent five years in college, playing four seasons at Virginia, before transferring to Notre Dame.

Fields recorded 630 receiving yards and five touchdowns last season, bringing his career totals to 2,479 receiving yards and 16 scores.
