Big news dropped in the NFL on Thursday when ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported that the Indianapolis Colts are going to let quarterback Anthony Richardson seek a trade.
Not many teams are likely to be putting together a trade package for Richardson, but CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell believes the Miami Dolphins could be a potential landing spot for him.
“The Miami Dolphins are Green Bay Packers South after hiring Green Bay defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their new head coach and Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as their new general manager,” Podell wrote on Thursday. “Both of them witnessed the rehabilitation of 2022 third-round pick quarterback Malik Willis in Green Bay across the last two seasons, and he will now be a sought-after free agent this offseason.
“Perhaps they will try to hit the jackpot again with an athletic quarterback project by trading for Richardson, as Tua Tagovailoa’s time as the Dolphins’ starting quarterback seemingly comes to an end in the near future.”
The Colts chose Richardson as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but unfortunately, his first three seasons were quite challenging.

Richardson has played in 17 games, starting in 15, during which he has thrown for 2,400 yards and recorded 11 touchdowns, along with 13 interceptions.
The Dolphins could be a viable option to land Richardson, especially since they may be parting ways with Tua Tagovailoa. If Miami can acquire Richardson at a reasonable price, it could be a worthwhile opportunity to see what he can bring to the Dolphins for a season.
