The Boston Red Sox had three members of the American League All-Star team during the 2025 MLB season with closer Aroldis Chapman, starting pitcher Garrett Crochet and third baseman Alex Bregman.
ESPN.com MLB insider David Schoenfield revealed his “Way-too-early 2026 MLB All-Stars” on Thursday, predicting that the Red Sox will have four representatives this time around.
Schoenfield believes Boston will have one starter in the Midsummer Classic — outfielder Roman Anthony.
“Yes, he’s this good. We saw flashes of his future All-Star potential as a rookie, as he hit .292/.396/.463 in 71 games. That on-base percentage would have finished tied with Juan Soto for third-highest in the majors if he had enough plate appearances,” he wrote. “Anthony’s power started to show up in August, when he hit .304 with six home runs as he started lifting the ball more, before he missed September with an oblique strain. Look for a .400 OBP, 25 home runs and a top-10 MVP finish as a sophomore.”
Schoenfield has fellow Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran making his second All-Star team as a reserve, following his 2024 appearance. Duran went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run during the 2024 showcase to earn game MVP honors.

The longtime MLB reporter also predicts that both Chapman and Crochet will return to the MLB All-Star Game in 2026, which would be the reliever’s ninth nod and the ace’s third honor.
On the National League side, Schoenfield foresees former Boston third baseman Alex Bregman earning the starting gig at the hot corner, which would be the fourth All-Star honor of his career.
