Ford Final Five Facts: Bruins Battle, Fall To Sabres In Overtime

The Boston Bruins battled into overtime on Monday’s St. Patrick’s Day game against the Buffalo Sabres. Morgan Geekie continued to add onto his career-high goal campaign when he scored number 23 to make it 2-1 late in the first period. His goal and his assist on Pavel Zacha’s 1-1 goal is the third multi-point period Geekie has recorded this season, and the twenty-third multi-point game in his career.

The Bruins were outshot 9-4 in the second period, with Owen Power scoring to tie the game at 2. The game went into extra frames, with Joonas Korpisalo battling to make 14 saves in the third period and in overtime. Alex Tuch scored the game-winner in the final minute of overtime. This was the fifteenth game decided in overtime for the Bruins this season, tied for most in the NHL.

The season series between the Bruins and Sabres is now, 1-1-1 with one game remaining.
